Little update about me: I've been in Florida all week visiting my grandparents, which has been nice and relaxing (a good way to get my mind of school and colleges). Speaking of which, colleges are really starting to annoy me. Right now my serious considerations are Chicago, WashU, Hopkins, and then Tufts/Carnegie Mellon in the back of my mind. Here's how I stand:
1. WashU: Great academics, really fun school with an awesome campus and good math program (my major). Haven't heard any negatives but will be visiting next weekend.
2. Chicago: Considered by many to be the best school in the country academically, and I don't deny that. I just question how much fun I am going to have there.
3. Hopkins: Don't know much about it but have heard it's very cutthroat (bad); however, it's in the mix because they offered me $$$$$.
My whole family says they'll be behind me whatever I choose, but there are some pressures I'm dealing with. My uncle is a professor at Chicago, so him and his family, as well as my grandparents really want me to go there, mostly because of the academics. They've said that my choice should be a no-brainer; Chicago is where I will learn the most and open the most doors, they don't seem to understand that social life is equally important to me. My parents, on the other hand, have no problem with me choosing WashU over Chicago, but they're pressuring me to consider Hopkins because of the scholarship they gave me. This puts me in an uncomfortable situation, because when we visit Hopkins, if I don't like it, I feel like my parents will think that me not wanting to go there shows that I am spoiled/don't appreciate money. I really don't consider myself spoiled, but the reality is that my parents have always let me know that they have enough money to put my sister and I through college comfortably, so I told them look if money isn't an issue I should just choose whichever I like the best. My dad responded to this by saying, well, if you only like the other schools marginally better than Hopkins, go to Hopkins, which I guess makes sense.
OK, sorry about all that personal nonsense. Here's a few more games from Princeton.
